The Roaring Twenties allowed for the African culture to express there views through the up and coming music called Jazz. There were many famous Jazz musicians that came out of the Roaring Twenties. Some of these musicians were King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Kid Ory, and Duke Ellington. Jazz at this time affected society in many different ways. The radio was also an essential part of the Roaring Twenties. About 30 million people owned radios by 1923. It was used for promotion of newspaper and they were operated and owned by many non-profit organizations and universities. The culture also changed a lot due to social and economic changes, and improvement of technology. The growth of cities, allowed for the increase in the amount of leisure time people had. When people worked on farms, they worked all day. Now, people in the urban areas had more time to spend with their families by standing around the piano and joining for picnics and baseball games. Sports were also very affected by radios because everyone was able to hear the same games and knew when they were. Additionally, the radio allowed people to listen to the same music and learn the same dance. The radio allowed for the new growth of a culture in America because everyone was hearing the same news and tunes.
